The Kennedys
The Kennedys began their writing and touring life three decades ago as members of Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra, developing their own sound as a frequent support act on Nanci’s tours across America, Ireland, Scotland and England. Along the way, they hosted a nationwide radio program, “The Dharma Cafe” on Sirius/XM, and wrote and released seventeen CDs. This year they celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of their first release, "River of Fallen Stars" with a specially curated tour that will cover the full breadth of their catalog of songs, featuring a different playlist at each show.
Pete and Maura's songs show the influence of classic melodies and harmonies that harken back to Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers, with twin guitar textures that recall the lush sound of The Byrds and West Coast country rock. Their lyrics are uplifting, empowering and encouraging, delivered in a spirit of intimacy and empathy. During the pandemic lockdown, they performed over a thousand songs on a weekly series of live-streamed concerts, but their real love is live performance, where every lyric and guitar lick goes straight to the heart. With thirty years of recording and touring behind them, these self-proclaimed folk-rockers are still going strong.
